Jim McEwan's persönlichen Eindrücke ungefiltert: Opens beautifully on smouldering peat fires with a sea breeze fanning the flames and igniting the charred oak and the peaty residue that brings a DNA that cannot be denied! Light notes of wet seaweed and crushed sea shells drift by and then the sweet mellow spicy notes of bourbon drift by on an uplift of Heather, Bog Myrtle & sea pinks on an Atlantic breeze. Then the sweet malty toasted barley notes rise and bring complexity, sweetness & mellowness, acient oak, Islay grown barley, skilled passionate traditional distillers time and place as one. The flavour is grainy sweet balanced with focus on the smoke and the oak, however, you will discover a citrus hint of blood orange/tangerine that slip streams by revealing a layer of soft fruit & vanilla all underpinned by the warm mellowness of the toasted oak. Wherever I find myself in the world, Port Charlotte take me home in a heartbeat. The aftertaste lingers on the smoky sweet warmth and if it’s quiet I can hear the Atlantic waves on the foreshore.
